Styling Riding Boots

Let's style my riding boots from 2012! And my moto boots from about five years ago.
Daytime: jeans + sweater
Boots add richness to this seasonally-appropriate combination. My first attempt was too 2012 with skinny jeans and a shrunken striped sweater. As demonstrated by having these pieces readily available, I hang onto my clothes after they cycle out of trends. Changing just the sweater for a boxy turtleneck makes the outfit more personal and less of a time capsule.

Heel height for pants
I tried the same turtleneck and boots with sailor pants, and I appreciated the fluid silhouette. But the hem of the jeans hovered over my foot, which breaks the line from the waist down to the floor.

The jeans work with flat boots; the hem sweeps over the top of the feet. I prefer to err on the side of too much length rather than having this gap between the foot and the pant.
