Jewelry care
Keeping jewelry clean resides in my mind in the same neighborhood as makeup brush maintenance. I am so happy when I do it, but I don't do it as often as I'd like.
My goal is to clean my makeup brushes weekly, with microfiber wipes daily.
I aim for a monthly jewelry spa. An at-home jewelry spa is so satisfying. You’re done very quickly, and you end up with such sparkly treasures. The soak method is generally safe, but if you’re unsure about a damaged piece of jewelry, especially pearls, ask a jeweler.
An ultrasonic cleaner was a purchase I made under the fever of Covid, and it turned out to be both sane and joyous. For days, I walked around looking for objects I could clean. Finally, gunky nibs of water bottles can emerge be clear again. Sunglasses are clean as new. The tray of my Nespresso machine is cleaner than it ever aspired to be.
Oh, jewelry, too. I was brazen with the ultrasonic, but I don't want anyone else to make my mistakes. Tips and safety concerns for the ultrasonic will follow the soak method below.
Soaking Jewelry
Soak your jewelry in warm water with a pump of dish soap for five minutes.
