J.Crew Fall Event

Hard to beat J.Crew at its best: high quality pieces that reflect history but aren't stuck in its clichés. With that in mind, I picked my favorites from the fall event.

Blazers, Vests, Lady Jackets

I count on pieces in this category to anchor my outfits. One great jacket easily elevates leggings and a matching lightweight sweater, for example. Most of these pieces work with jeans, too; they're made from fabrics hearty enough to stand up to denim. I made notes on each piece.

Coats & Jackets

We've got outer layers here for colder weather. When it's in the 30s ºF, I'd wear one of these overcoats over a blazer and a sweater. For LA nights in the 50s, I'd wear the coat over just a sweater. I needed to find the denim jacket a home here, and this group welcomed it.

Sweaters & Cardigans

I'm so happy they updated the rollneck sweater with set-in sleeves. The new cut has a higher armhole and looks more refined. It gives me a slight A-line, and the silhouette flows so beautifully with sailor jeans. I tried on the sweater with the High-rise sailor denim trouser in Dani Beca wash, size 25. I've been wearing it with my Frame Le Slim Palazzo (size 26, my usual), but it might be better with this lighter wash. I tend to find things to add to cart when I reflect.

Jersey: Tees, Sweats, Tanks

Of course, my favorite here is the sequin-embellished T-shirt in stripe. It's such a great piece to rely on when you're in a crunch. Stripes go with almost anything: any texture, any print. It's elevated and approachable, and the sequins have are densely sewn.

Tops: Shirt and Shirting

I just got the Wren denim shirt before the sale. I went for a slimmer fit because I want more options for layering, and a more relaxed fit would create bulk under cardigans. Normally, I wear a 4 in the Wren, but the 2 fits nicely on the shoulders and the sleeves are just long enough.

Bottoms

J.Crew's denim & corduroy may have vanity sizing because their 25 fits me, while 26 is my usual size. Their size 4 pants usually fit me.

I ordered two corduroy styles: the Natalia pant (size 2) and the wide leg corduroy trouser (size 25). The latter looks a lot like the high-rise sailor denim above. They have a finer wale than the Natalia, and I find that they drape a bit better.

Footwear

What are we wearing this fall? A riding boot, like the Piper on sale. Ballet flats, kitten heels, and loafers. I love the clean sneakers as well, and I can only hope we have enough rain for these lug-sole rain boots.

More Treats

J.Crew makes pajamas from beautiful fabrics, so I had to share. Wool socks are my go-to for snowy days, and their cashmere socks cannot miss. I'm including the one belt with a nice buckle, too.
